A Louisville woman was killed Friday in a crash involving her vehicle and a semi-tractor on Interstate 64 in Indianapolis. The Courier Journal reports that Michelle L. Adams, 23, had attempted to pass the truck when her Honda Accord spun out and was struck by the semi.
A passenger in the car, Julia Ann Howard, 23 of Florida, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, Steven R. Caldwell, 49 of Hope, Indiana was not injured.
Authorities noted that the weather could have been a factor, as light snow had recently fallen in the area. During cold weather, when snow and ice is often a factor, is the most important time for drivers of semi-tractor trailers to exercise extreme caution in order to avoid accidents with vehicles much smaller than their own.
