Propane Truck Wreck on KY 1649 Roadway

An accident involving a propane gas truck and a car resulted in a man injured and the prompting of hazardous materials personnel called to the scene in order to resolve issues relating to diesel fuel spill, as well as the propane gas that leaked from the overturned truck, on the roadway.
According to police, the accident took place early on KY-1649 roadway (by Poplar Hill Road and Bob Godbey Road).

The wreck occurred when the truck driver, Miller, was headed westbound on KY 1649 in a 2001 Ferrell Gas Co. Freightliner truck when an approaching car crossed the center line, causing Miller to get off the right side of the roadway. As a result,
Miller lost control of the truck, which came back onto the roadway and flipped onto its side.
The truck then slid into the eastbound lane, and struck into a vehicle head-on (2002 Buick Century) that was driven by 49-year-old Gadberry. Casey County EMS transported the driver of the car, Gadberry, to County Hospital where he was later taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Miller was not injured in the accident.

Unfortunately, Gadberry was driving wihle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and was later charged in addition to his having operated a motor vehicle on a suspended license, with aggravated circumstances, and his third offense, according to court records.
Personnel from Casey County Disaster and Emergency Services, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement officers and State Fire Marshall Charles Sparks responded to the accident because of a vapor leak in the propane gas lines. Fortunately, the overturned truck's main tank, which was carrying approximately 2,000 pounds of propane gas, was contained.
