Henderson County, Kentucky. The Pennyrile Parkway is open again after a fiery semi truck accident late Monday night. According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened just after 10:30 p.m. Monday near the Kentucky-425 exit. The truck driver operating involved in the one-vehicle accident is said to be from Michigan, and was heading towards Henderson when his semi-truck drifted off the road. The driver was reported to have overcorrected and, as a result, the truck flipped over onto its side.
Deputies reported the driver was able to jump out of the truck just before it went up in flames. The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Authorities were forced to shut down the northbound lanes of the Pennyrile for nearly six hours in order to clean up the mess. At one point, both the north and southbound lanes were closed. All lanes of traffic reopened Tuesday morning. Investigators are still looking into what caused the driver to swerve off the road. It is fortunate no other cars or persons were involved in the wreck, and the driver of the semi-truck was especially lucky. Although Kentuckians were made to endure traffic issues for more than eight hours, we are happy to report there was no fatality involving the truck wreck.
