Wrong Medication Kills Nursing Home Resident

Kentucky nursing homes should take notice. Medication errors at nursing homes are on the rise. Every year nursing home residents are the victims of prescription errors. Many nursing homes lack adeqaute staff to properly care for their residents. This lack of staff causes mistakes to be made. Often times these mistakes are in the form of medication errors. The end result is often serious injuries or even death. Case in point involves Fair Oaks Lodge in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Health invstigation found that the nursing home has mistakenly adminstered the wrong medication to a resident . The nursing home however, did not accept responsibility. The disagreed and held the nursing home responsible for neglect. The inspector general's office in Kentucky will investigate all alleged medication errors that occur at nursing homes. Therefore, if you suspect a nursing home resident has received the wrong medication you should report it to the Kentucky Inspector General's Office.
