5-Vehicle Car Crash in Meade County Kills 1 and Injures 2 Others

December 20, 2011 – Meade County, Ky. – A man was fatally wounded and 2 more people sustained injuries after 5 vehicles collided on Monday, December 19.

 reports that the incident occurred at around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Brandenburg Station Road. Reports conclude that 5 vehicles collided in the intersection. Additional details of how the accident occurred are not yet known.

A man was killed in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials also said that 2 more people were injured in the accident. Both people had to be sent to Hardin Memorial Hospital, in Elizabethtown, immediately following the accident. Both people are said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The names of those involved in the accident have not yet been revealed to the public.

All lanes on Dixie Highway were blocked to traffic for about 3 hours following the accident. All lanes have since been reopened.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of
traffic accidents in Kentucky.
