January 19, 2012 – Louisville, Ky.– Tornado winds recently caused semi-trucks to overturn on Kentucky’s highways.
WHAS11 reports that a truck was blown over on the Gene Snyder Tuesday, January 17. The truck was driving southbound near the Brownsboro Road exit when winds from one of 4 confirmed tornadoes forced the truck over the median.
The truck crashed onto the northbound shoulder before it hit a set of cable barriers that stopped it from going into the northbound lanes, preventing a possibly catastrophic collision.
Whether or not the driver of the semi-truck was injured is unclear. That driver’s identity is also unknown at this time.
The cable barriers kept the semi-truck from hitting any other vehicles on the roadway. No other injuries have been reported.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
