Carroll County Man Killed in Recent Kentucky Pedestrian Crash

Kentucky State Police report that a fatal accident occurred in Carrollton, Kentucky earlier this month. The crash reportedly occurred on Monday, February 4, 2013. According to accident reports, a pedestrian was crossing Highland Avenue between fifth and sixth streets when he was hit by a truck. The pedestrian was identified as 71-year-old Larry Moscoe of Carrollton. The driver of the truck was identified as 23-year-old Lance Maiden, also of Carrollton.
Mr. Moscoe was reportedly taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital by Carroll County EMS. The Carroll County coroner allegedly pronounced him dead at the hospital. There is no word on whether Mr. Maiden was injured in this Northern Kentucky accident.
In 2011, the most recent year for which statistics are available, there were 52 pedestrian deaths and 937 pedestrian injuries in Kentucky. Only 5% of the 2011 Kentucky pedestrian accident victims were over the age of 65. Only 2 people were killed in all of the Carroll County crashes that occurred in 2011.
The causes of Carroll County crashes and Kentucky pedestrian accidents are varied, and the cause of the accident which allegedly took Mr. Moscoe’s life has not yet been released. The accident investigation was ongoing in the days following the February 4 crash. An accident reconstructionist with the Kentucky State Police was reportedly leading the investigation.
