January 13, 2012 – Hardin County, Ky. – A person had to be taken to the hospital following a car accident involving a tractor trailer and 2 cars on Wednesday, January 11.
WHAS11 reports that the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 65. The tractor trailer and the 2 cars involved somehow collided into each other on the interstate. Exact details of how the accident occurred are not available at this time.
The truck driver sustained injuries in the collision and had to be taken to University Hospital. The truck driver is said to have suffered head injuries. Officials are not considering the injuries to be life-threatening.
Whether or not the drivers of the other 2 vehicles were injured is unclear. The names of everyone involved in the crash have not been publically released.
The cause of the accident remains undetermined but it under the stages of investigation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
