February 21, 2012 – Willisburg, Ky. – A man was killed in a single-vehicle car accident early Saturday morning, February 18.
A news report from WHAS11 indicates that the incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. on State Route 53. Kentucky State Police said that a vehicle was travelling on the road when its driver lost control, causing it to first crash into a guardrail then into a nearby tree.
The vehicle’s driver, Michael Sallee, 21, was killed in the accident. He died at the scene.
Sallee’s vehicle was the one involved in the accident and it was not carrying any other passengers. No additional injuries or fatalities have been brought forth in relation to this accident.
The root of the crash remains to be resolved as it is under ongoing investigation by local police.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
