March 8, 2011 - Kentucky - A new initiative in Kentucky aims to help better protect nursing home residents from nursing home abuse or neglect in Kentucky.
According to a news item on PR Web, the program, "Safeguarding Our Seniors," aims to put in place measures that would not only prevent abuse and neglect in Kentucky but protect residents from being exploited financially, as well.
Some of the specific measures contained within this initiative include:
State lawmakers are well aware of the problems concerning nursing home abuse in Kentucky. In fact, an investigation last year resulted in a series of stories by the Lexington Herald-Leader on the topic of nursing home abuse in the state.
As a result of this investigation it was uncovered how those responsible for nursing home abuse that resulted in broken bones, amputations, hospitalizations and deaths were not criminally prosecuted.
Since that time, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear ordered that the Cabinet for Health and Family Services analyze how cases of nursing home abuse and neglect are reported and handled in the state.
When your loved one has suffered injuries because of nursing home abuse or neglect, you should consult with a Kentucky nursing home abuse attorney. An attorney will evaluate your case to determine if you have a valid Louisville nursing home abuse claim.
