February 10, 2012 – Louisville, Ky. – An off-duty Louisville Metro Police officer was injured in a crash on Thursday, February 9.
Wave 3 reports that the accident occurred on the Gene Snyder Freeway at Bardstown Road. Officials said that the LMPD officer’s vehicle spun out in the northbound lanes of the freeway.
Exact details on how the incident occurred are currently unclear but police indicate that the officer was the only individual related to this accident and that debris on the road may have contributed to her car spinning out.
Reports indicate that the officer sustained injuries in the accident. Police escorted the officer’s ambulance to a local hospital. The extent of the officer’s injuries is unknown at this time but she is expected to recover. The officer’s identity has not yet been released to the public.
The crash remains under the stages of investigation by local authorities.
