Rocker Steve Lee on Motorcycle When Killed in Truck Crash

According to an article published by Associated Press ("AP"), on the evening of October 6, 2010, Gotthard band rocker Steve Lee - who is the frontman for one of Switzerland's most successful bands, selling millions of albums - was killed when a tractor-trailer truck skidded into his parked motorcycle on a Nevada highway outside of Las Vegas. U.S. authorities reported that Steve Lee, 47-years old, was riding with a group of at least eight other motorcyclists when it started to rain and they pulled to the side of the Interstate 15 to put on rain clothing. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, at about 5:15 pm PDT, the semi tractor trailer truck, driven by 27-year old Edwin Zuk of Illinois, swerved the truck and the trailer slammed into a parked Harley-Davidson motorcycle that hit Lee.



According to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Fackrell, 

Lee was pronounced dead at the scene, about 63 miles north of Las Vegas and 10 miles south of the Nevada-Arizona border town, Mesquite. Trooper Fackrell stated to AP that: "It was just a freak accident."

Lee's band, Gotthard, has played alongside American bands including Deep Purple, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi.

 Lee was among 21 tourists, including Gotthard bassist, Marc Lynn, and Lee's girlfriend, Brigitte Voss-Balzarini, who arrived in the United States during the weekend, according to Jan Bayati of German music management company, Bottom Row. No one else was injured in the crash. Bayati stated: 

"Lee wasn't just one of the best voices in rock, he also had an extraordinary personality." 

The Clark County coroner listed Lee's hometown as Porza, Switzerland.

 Fackrell said the investigation was continuing, but drugs, alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.
