December 2, 2011 – Louisville, Ky. – An INDOT worker was killed when his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck on Thursday, December 1.
WHAS11 reports that the accident happened on Interstate 65, near the Seymour exit. The INDOT worker had stopped to help divert traffic around a previous car accident. The worker was still in his vehicle when, according to witnesses on the scene, the semi-truck drove through the orange triangles in the right lane at about 75 miles per hour.
The semi-truck’s driver did not seem to show any signs of trying to stop the vehicle. The truck crashed into the INDOT workers vehicle. The smaller vehicle was pinned underneath the semi-truck when both vehicles burst into flame.
The INDOT worker died on the scene. The truck driver, Robert A. Burger, 50, was not injured in the accident.
