February 2, 2012 – Radcliff, Ky. – A toddler died and an adult suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle car accident on Wednesday morning, February 1.
Wave 3 reports that the incident occurred on KY 434. Kentucky State Police said that a truck was travelling westbound along the road when it went off of the right shoulder. The truck’s driver, Amy French, 29 of Elizabethtown, then overcorrected, causing the truck to crash into a tree.
Passenger Taylor B. French, 21 months old, was rushed to Hardin Memorial Hospital right after the accident happened. Taylor French was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
Amy French was also taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital. She received minor injuries in the accident.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no additional injuries or fatalities have been brought forth in light of the case.
The accident is under ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
