Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Three men were killed when a train struck an SUV crossing railroad tracks in Pembroke. One other man was airlifted in critical condition to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The crash took place Sunday evening at approximately 6:15. The train hit the SUV car and knocked it off the road, which caused it to flip onto its top.
Christian County Rescue Chief Randy Graham told the Kentucky New Era that Loman Owen III was semiconscious inside the vehicle when medical workers reached him. The 42-year old Hopkinsville man, the only survivor of the crash, reportedly started going into shock when the helicopter arrived. When asked, he was unable to say whether he was the driver or the passenger. The three other victims were all thrown from the vehicle. Story by the Courier-Journal.
