Woman Killed, Hit by Car in Clarksville

November 3, 2011 - Clarksville, Ky. - A woman suffered fatal injuries when she was struck by a car on Tuesday, November 1.

WHAS11 reports that the accident happened at about 7 p.m. on the corner of where Randolph and Harrison meet. According to police reports, the woman ran into the roadway and into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle's driver could not stop or swerve in time and ended up hitting her.

The woman, 65-year-old Patricia Roark, died at the scene of the accident. The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was not reported to be injured in the accident.

Police said that Roark may have been drunk at the time of the accident.

There has been no word on whether or not charges will be filed in connection with this accident.

The crash is under the stages of investigation being conducted by local authorities.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
