Man Dies in Hospital after Single-Vehicle Car Accident in Louisville, KY

April 19, 2012 – Louisville, Ky. – A man died in the hospital after a single-vehicle car accident that happened late on Tuesday, April 17.

reports that the accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on the Outer Loop at New Cut Road. A vehicle driven by Brett Neathery, 26, went off of the roadway near the intersection and crashed into a utility pole.

Neathery was rushed to University Hospital immediately following the accident. Jefferson County Deputy Coroner R.D. Jones said that Neathery was pronounced dead in the hospital at 12:08 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18.

Jones said that Neathery’s death was caused by the injuries he sustained from the crash. Officials will know more once the autopsy has been completed.

Reports do not indicate if any other vehicles were involved in the accident or if there were any other passengers in Neathery’s vehicle. Officials in Jefferson County are performing an investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
