Man Dies in Jeffersontown Single-Vehicle Car Accident

February 3, 2012 – Jeffersontown, Ky. – A person was killed when a car crashed into a concrete embankment on Tuesday, January 31.

reports that the incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. in the 8900 block of Taylorsville Road, nearby Tree Lane. Officials arrived on the scene to find that a vehicle had gone off the roadway and crashed into a concrete embankment. Exact facts of how the crash occurred are not currently available.

The vehicle’s driver, Huber Mendoza Lopez, 21, of Jeffersontown, was killed in the crash. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident and there were no other passenger’s in Lopez’s vehicle. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported.

The cause of the accident remains to be resolved. Major Chris McIntyre of the Jeffersontown Police Department said that weather conditions seemed to be perfect for driving at the time of the accident. No other factors have yet been ruled out.

The Jefferson Police Department is investigating.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
