UPS Employee Dies at Des Moines Airport
One person is dead following an accident at the United Parcel Service loading dock at the Des Moines International Airport this morning, according to Des Moines Police.
According to a news release issue by the police, a call from the airport was received at 5:56 a.m. A UPS employee was opening a gate to allow a semi-truck delivery. The truck struck the employee as it entered the lot. The victim - whose name has not yet been released - was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Si Mohammed Abondou, 29, of Orlando, Florida. Abondou is a student driver and was accompanied by an instructor, who was a passenger in the truck. The accident is still under investigation.
