
September 8, 2011 - Shelby County, Ky. - A person was killed and 2 others were injured in a 3-vehicle car accident on Tuesday, September 6.
A news report from WHAS11 indicated that the accident happened at about 5 a.m. on Highway 395, between Vigo Road and Benson Pike. The accident involved 3 vehicles that collided on the highway. Details as to how the accident occurred are not yet available.
The driver of one of the vehicles, George Downs, 71, was fatally injured in the accident. Downs was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the other 2 vehicles were injured in the crash. Both were taken to a local hospital, by ambulance, for treatment. The conditions of the 2 injured people are unknown at the moment. Their names have not yet been publically released either as of right now.
The root of the accident remains unresolved as investigations are still underway by officials in Shelby County.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
