From The Louisville Courier-Journal:
"A train shuttling about 30 visitors at the Louisville Zoo derailed this afternoon, a Zoo spokeswoman said. Zoo spokeswoman Kara Bussabarger said the derailment occurred in the Gorilla Forest. Three cars and the train’s engine were on their side, she said.
A MetroSafe dispatch supervisor said the incident was reported at 4:31 p.m.
Shortly after 5 p.m., ambulances were taking injured people from the Zoo, and all of the train’s passengers had been removed, Bussabarger said.
Louisville EMS director Neal Richmond said 18 people were taken to area hospitals, with those injured ranging in age from 2 months to senior citizens. One person briefly trapped in the derailment suffered serious, but not critical, injuries, Richmond said.
One other person was being evaluated for a potentially serious head injury, Richmond said. Most of the injured were being treated for cuts, scrapes and bruises, he said.
An inspector from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture is expected at the zoo this evening to investigate, Bussabarger said"
