November 3, 2011 - Kenton County, Ky. - A report from NKY.com indicates a serious car wreck involving 7 passengers caused traffic on northbound I-75 to be halted for over 2 hours in the afternoon of Sunday, October 30.
A Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Beverly Bates and was carrying 5 other passengers when it crashed into a Chevrolet Impala. A 12-year-old male passenger in Bates's vehicle was airlifted to Cincinnati Children's Hospital with multiple injuries. Police say he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Another passenger in the vehicle, Robert Sholl, was also seriously injured and taken to University Hospital. The remaining 3 unidentified passengers, along with the 2 occupants of the Impala, Douglas and Katherine Endicott, were taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for treatment of less severe injuries.
Police believe the Blazer was traveling northbound near mile marker 168 when the accelerator became stuck. Bates attempted to apply the brakes while pulling to the right emergency lane. When she attempted to put the vehicle in park, she shifted into reverse and backed into the northbound lane, striking the Impala.
