On Saturday, February 21, 2009, three people were injured in a head-on collision on Ky. 357 in Larue County. Two of the accident victims were seriously injured. Kentucky State Police said that the accident occurred at approximately 5:50 PM.
According to Trooper Steve Pavey, a public information officer of Kentucky State Police Post 4, 32-year-old Jennifer Nichols of Hodgenville, Kentucky, was seriously injured when her 1998 Chevrolet Lumina struck another vehicle on Ky. 357.
Nichols was heading south on Ky. 357 when her vehicle dropped off the right shoulder. She overcorrected, which caused her to cross the center line and hit a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Laura J. Stinson, 31, of Horse Cave, Kentucky, head-on, said Pavey.
Both drivers were trapped inside their cars and had to be extricated by responding fire fighters. They were transported to University Hospital in Louisville.
The University Hospital nursing supervisor did not know the two drivers’ conditions early Sunday morning.
Neville Thompson, 39, of Raywick, Kentucky, was also in Nichols’ car at the time of the head-on collision. He only suffered minor injuries and was treated at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
According to Pavey, Nichols was charged with driving under the influence and that both Nichols and Thompson were charged with possession of marijuana.
