Kentucky Auto Accident Kills One and Injures Two Others

On the morning of Tuesday, June 16, 2009, a dump truck and car collided in the Shopville community, along Kentucky 80 by Price Valley Road in Pulaski County.  As a result of the Kentucky auto accident, one person was killed and two other people were injured.

According to police, a 1998 Saturn, driven by 50-year-old Carl Madon, crossed over the center line and hit a dump truck, which was driven by Larry Cheeks, a 35-year-old Manchester resident.  Police said that Cheeks attempted to avoid the accident by swerving, but part of his load spilled and his vehicle overturned.

Sherri Madon, Carl’s wife, was riding in the back seat of the vehicle with her 2-year-old granddaughter, Angela, at the time of the crash.  Sherri was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  Carl and Sherri Madon were on their way to take Angela to the doctor, according to family members.

Carl Madon was airlifted to University of Kentucky hospital for treatment of his injuries.  He was listed in serious condition.  Angela was taken to the hospital, but has already been released.

Cheeks was transported to a local hospital where he has been treated and released.

Police believe that Angela’s child safety seat saved her life.
