Louisville, Kentucky. A Jefferson County Public School ("JCPS") bus accident that resulted in at least four student passengers being sent to the hospital for injuries in August 2010 has now received an official report on the 2-car wreck. According to the crash report, the schoolbus driver, Mary DeCruz, stated that she "misjudged clearance" and slammed the bus into a jeep SUV at the intersection of 26th and Madison Streets.
Louisville Metro Police Department ("LMPD") said that JCPS driver DeCruz also "failed to yield." Charges were not filed against bus driver DeCruz. According to JCPS, DeCruz was hired August 6, 2010, just before the collision occurred. JCPS officials stated driver DeCruz started driving again mid-September with the help of a training instructor. There is no report yet on whether DeCruz will be transporting students again after slamming the schoolbus into the other car.
