A Henderson car accident involving two vehicles leaves one person with minor injuries after the two vehicles slam into one another. The incident took place at approximately 2:00 PM on Monday afternoon, December 29, 2009, on U.S. 60.
According to reports, the incident began when a car driven by John Branson, 20, of Henderson, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 60 and stopped at the stop light at Barrett Boulevard to make a left turn. David Townsend, 46, of Corydon, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 60, when Branson turned left into the path of the second vehicle.
Rescue workers transported Joanne Branson, 48, who was a passenger in John Brandon’s vehicle, to Methodist Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries sustained in the wreck. Townsend, who complained of leg pains, refused to be taken to the hospital for treatment. There were no other injuries reported.
According to police, Branson told them that he attempted to make the left turn only after the light turned yellow. Townsend stated that he continued through the intersection since he was almost at the intersection when he saw the light turn yellow.
Both cars suffered severe damage from the force of the impact.
The Henderson accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It has not been determined who was at fault.
