
November 1, 2011 - Campbellsville, Ky. - A man sustained fatal injuries when he was hit by a car while crossing the street during the night on Friday, October 28.
According to a news story on WHAS11, the accident happened near the Kroger. Local officials said that Richard Wilson, 32, was walking along a roadway near East Broadway when he stepped out in front of an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle then struck Wilson on the roadway.
Wilson was rushed to a nearby hospital soon after the accident had happened. He was later declared dead in the hospital.
The identity of the driver that struck Wilson has not been released to the public yet. Whether or not he or she will be charged in relation with this accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
