September 13, 2011 - Louisville, Ky. - A pedestrian was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car on Sunday, September 11.
WAVE3 reports that the accident happened at the intersection of Cane Run Road and Rockaway Drive. The pedestrian was walking along the road, possibly attempting to cross at the intersection, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Exact details of how the accident occurred are not yet available.
MetroSafe dispatchers said that the male pedestrian was injured in the accident and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The man's medical condition is unknown.
The victim's identity has not yet been released. The identity of the driver that hit him is also unknown. There has been no word on whether or not charges will be filed in connection with this accident.
Dispatchers said that the south side of Cane Run Road was blocked to traffic for some time following the accident.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
