September 6, 2010 - Louisville, KY - The daughter of a Fern Creek firefighter was involved in a fatal car accident in the early morning hours of September 6.
WAVE3 reports that Elizabeth Simmons, 19, was driving along the 9200 block of Broad Run Road in Louisville at 4:15 a.m. while talking on her cell phone. She was nearing a friend's house, and talking with the friend on the phone when the car crash occurred. The friend said she heard Simmons scream, went outside to investigate and found the crashed car.
The impact of the collision ejected Simmons from her vehicle where she sustained blunt force injuries. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Police say Simmons was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash.
