
August 2, 2011 - Louisville, Ky - A teenager was killed and a second person was taken to the hospital following an ATV accident Sunday, July 31.
WLKY reports that the accident happened Sunday afternoon, on Wilson Road in Louisville, when 2 ATVs collided on the roadway. Further details as to how the accident occurred are not yet available.
One of the ATV drivers, Gregory Davis, 16, from Henry County, was critically injured in the accident. He was rushed to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A passenger on Davis' vehicle was also injured in the accident. The passenger remains at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. There is no word on the medical condition of the injured passenger. The driver of the second ATV was not injured in the accident.
The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released. The cause of the accident remains to be determined as it is still under ongoing investigation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
