Teen Killed in Three-Vehicle Accident in Kentucky

Posted on Jan 12, 2009

An Annville teenager was tragically killed last Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident in eastern Laurel County.  The crash took place at the intersection of Kentucky 192 East and Hal Rogers Parkway. According to officials, Aaron R. Snider, an 18-year-old man, was turning left in his 1996 Lincoln Continental onto the parkway from Ky. 192.  Snider stopped his vehicle at the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a 2005 Volvo tractor-trailer.

Jamie Brown, 31, of Lincolnton, N.C., was driving the tractor-trailer and was heading east on the parkway.  “That’s when the collision occurred between the tractor-trailer and the Lincoln,” said Kentucky State Police London Post Public Affairs Officer Don Trosper. “The tractor-trailer struck the Lincoln in the driver’s side... Apparently he (Snider) stopped and pulled out in front of them.”

Another vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Natasha Henson of Manchester, was heading westbound on the parkway when her Pontiac G6 was hit by Snider’s skidding vehicle.

Snider was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.  Brown and his passenger, Freddie Link Jr., 37, of Hickory, N.C., were not injured in the crash.  Henson and her passenger, Timothy Johnson, 22, of Manchester, were taken to Saint Joseph London for treatment of minor injuries.

Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt at the time.

Police were called to the accident scene at approximately 2:24 PM and the wreckage was cleared around 5:00 PM.  During that time, the intersection was blocked so officials could clear the scene and perform crash reconstruction.

The crash is being investigated by Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Officer Greg Reams with the assistance of London City Police Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Det. Sgt. Chris Edwards, Laurel County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Det. Richard Dalrymple, officers from the London City Police, Laurel County EMS, Laurel County Emergency Management, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
