A single car accident in Kentucky left two teenagers injured on April 24, 2009 at approximately 1:00 AM. They were airlifted to Evansville hospitals overnight and one of the teens was listed as being in critical condition.
Union County Deputy Jason Thomas said that Dusty Lee Patridge, a 17-year-old Shelby, Alabama resident, was driving east when a late-model Chevrolet Blazer crossed the center line close to the intersection of highways 56 and 758. Patridge swerved off the road to avoid a collision and hit a culvert.
Patridge was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was protected by his airbag. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital where he was reported as being in stable condition.
Patridge had a passenger in his car, Richard James Goodwin, also a 17-year-old Shelby resident. Goodwin was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he was listed as being in critical condition. According to police, Goodwin was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and did not have an airbag.
Police are still investigating the accident. Authorities are looking for information about the other vehicle, which could be a 2005 4-door, gold-colored Blazer. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Union City sheriff’s department or Kentucky State Police.
