July 27, 2010 - Jackson County, KY - A mid-afternoon crash on July 21 between a car and a utility truck left a London, KY man dead at the scene.
Kentucky.com reports that Barry Tiller, 45, was driving his 2007 Saturn west on Ky. Highway 30 when he lost control of his car. The wet roads are being cited as the cause of the truck accident. Authorities say that Tiller overcorrected, crossed into the eastbound lane, and collided with the utility truck.
Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the truck crash. The driver of the truck, Joshua Gibson, 23, of Pioneet, Tenn. was not injured. Tiller was seriously injured and died at the scene of the accident. Details of his injuries were not released and alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash.
No charges are currently pending.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 826 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
