The dramatic increase in use of shoulder pain pumps after shoulder surgery is due in large part to the marketing efforts of the pain pump manufacturers and the increase in insurance companies approving coverage for such devices. Many insurance companies believed they could save money by having patients use pain pumps rather than traditional oral pain medications. Although the pain pumps may be cheaper they come with the risk of postarthroscopic glenohumeral chondrolysis or PAGCL. Gray and White Law is currently litigating several lawsuits in Kentucky filed against shoulder pain pump manufacturers and investigation dozens more.
