August 11, 2011 – Louisville, Ky. – A bicyclist was sent to the hospital Thursday, August 4, after being hit by a car in Louisville.
WHAS11 reports that the accident happened at about 7:45 a.m., on Wybrooke Circle off of North Hurstbourne Parkway. The bicyclist was travelling on the roadway when the bicycle crossed over the center line and was struck by an oncoming car.
The bicyclist was thrown from the bike and hit the car’s windshield. The bicyclist was injured in the accident and had to be transported to a local hospital. The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown at this time. The driver of the car was not injured in the accident.
The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released. There is no word on whether or not charges will be filed in connection with this accident as it is still under ongoing investigation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
