Murder and Other Charges After Fatal Louisville Motorcycle Crash

The Kentucky State Police report that a tragic motorcycle accident has taken the life of a 40-year-old man from Catlettsburg, Kentucky. The fatal Kentucky motorcycle accident allegedly occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Friday October 4, 2013 on KY 644.

 

According to the Kentucky State Police, officers were attempting to stop a 2001 Toyota Camry that was speeding and driving recklessly on US 23 in Ashland. The driver, who has been identified as 34-year-old Joshua Fitzpatrick of Paintsville, reportedly failed to stop and went through the intersection of KY 644 and B Street. As Mr. Fitzpatrick went through the intersection he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and went into the westbound lane of KY 644 were he collided with a motorcycle driven by 40-year-old Johnny Maynard, Jr.

 

Mr. Maynard was allegedly thrown from his motorcycle and taken to Three Rivers Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Mr. Maynard, who owned the Full Throttle Construction Company, is survived by his wife, parents, and many other loving relatives and friends.

 

Mr. Fitzpatrick has reportedly been arrested and charged with murder, fleeing and evading, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and driving on a suspended operator’s license. He allegedly remained in Big Sandy Detention Center the week following this fatal crash and has waived his right to a grand jury.

 

The Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate this accident.
