Louisville Accident Leaves Man on Life Support

August 4, 2011 – Louisville, Ky – A man is in the hospital on life support and another is in jail on DUI charges following a car accident on Monday, August 1.

WHAS11 reports that the accident happened late Monday night on National Turnpike. Theresa Duff, 39, ran through a red light on the turnpike. Her vehicle then crashed into another vehicle in the intersection.

The male driver of the second vehicle was critically injured in the accident. He had to be taken to a local hospital where he was to be treated for life-threatening injuries. His current medical condition is unknown. Duff was not injured in the accident.

Investigators said that Duff’s blood-alcohol content was over 3 times the legal limit. She was arrested at the scene. Duff is in jail on several charges including DUI and assault. The full list of her charges is not available at this time.

The accident is under ongoing investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
