Morehead Mother Dies in Thanksgiving Day Car Accident

A Rowan County Kentucky car accident left one woman dead and one man injured on Thanksgiving morning this year. The woman has been identified as 33-year-old Wendy Sue Wilson Williams. Ms. Williams is remembered as a loving mother, child, fiancée and sibling.

The crash that took Ms. Williams’ life occurred on KY 32 in Rowan County on the morning of November 22, 2012. It reportedly happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. According to the Kentucky State Police, 21-year-old Dustin Rayburn also of Morehead crossed the center line near the 11 mile marker and caused his 2000 Chevrolet pick-up to collide head on with Ms. Williams’ 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The collision reportedly caused Ms. Williams’ Jeep to overturn and land on the westbound shoulder.

Ms. Williams was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, where she died. Police report that Mr. Rayburn was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, where he was reported to be in stable condition following this Kentucky head on collision. Nobody else was reported to be involved or injured in this Rowan County car crash.

The cause of the accident was investigated in the days following the crash by the Kentucky State Police.
