Two vehicles collided in Webster County Kentucky earlier this month, resulting in one driver losing his life. The accident occurred on U.S. 41-Alternate near Providence Kentucky on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at approximately 1:40 a.m.
According to the Kentucky State Police, 20-year-old Nicholas Marvel of Providence was driving a 2001 Dodge truck northbound on U.S. 41-Alternate when his car collided with the 2002 Chevy truck of John Jones, which was traveling southbound on U.S. 41-Alternate. Mr. Marvel’s vehicle allegedly collided with the front driver’s side of Mr. Jones’ vehicle. The Kentucky State Police report that everyone involved in this car crash was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
Mr. Marvel and his passenger, 20-year-old Jonathan Dame of Providence reportedly refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident. Twenty-one-year-old Jody W. Jones of Providence was taken to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville for medical treatment of his accident injuries, and John Jones was pronounced dead at the accident scene by officials from the Webster County Coroner’s Office.
Mr. Jones was 46 years old. He is survived by his wife Cynthia; a daughter, Brianna Jones; three sons, Jerry, Jody and Dakota; two grandchildren; nine brothers; and other family and friends. He is remembered as a skilled horseman. Mr. Jones was laid to rest on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Providence.
