Bus Crash in Hart County, Kentucky

June 7, 2012 – Hart County, Ky. – A group of 34 children and 21 adults were taken to the hospital after a tour bus overturned on Wednesday, June 6.

Wave 3 reports that the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of State Road 728. The tour bus was travelling eastbound when it went around a curve in the roadway and drove off the right shoulder. The bus then overturned, coming to a rest on its side.

There were 21 adults and 34 children on the tour bus at the time of the accident. Some of the victims were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospitaland the rest were taken to Caverna Memorial Hospital. All injuries have been described as non-life threatening and the hospitalizations are mostly precautionary.

The identity of the bus driver has not been released. There has been no word on whether charges will be filed.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2010 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 760 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
