Man Charged with DUI in Washington County Accident

October 24, 2011 – Washington County, Ky. – A man was driving under the influence (DUI) that lead to 2 injuries in a single-vehicle car accident during the morning of Saturday, October 22.

WHAS11 reports that the accident happened on Hardesty Road, about 4 miles west of Willisburg. Officials said that the 51-year-old driver, Solon Young, was driving his car on the roadway when he ended up losing control of the vehicle. The car veered off its path on the roadway and crashed straight into a tree.

Young and a passenger, James Hahn, were taken to Springview Hospital immediately following the accident. Reports have indicated that both men have since been treated and released.

No further injuries have been brought forth in connection with this accident. Young was arrested after being discharged from the hospital and is now facing DUI charges.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
