School Bus Overturns in Jefferson County Leaving Injury

February 8, 2012 – Jefferson County, Ky. – A bus driver is in the midst of recovering from injuries after a school bus overturned during the afternoon on Monday, February 6.

A WHAS11 news story reports that the incident happened at the intersection of Shelbyville Road and Flat Rock Road. Officials said that one student was on the JCPS bus, no. 221, when it overturned at the intersection. Details of how the accident occurred and whether or not other vehicles were involved are unclear.

Reports indicate that the bus driver suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash but the Buechel Metropolitan High School student was able to escape injuries in the accident. No additional injuries have been reported.

There has been no new information on whether or not charges will be filed in relation to this accident. The crash is being further investigation by local officials.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
