Single-Vehicle Car Accident in Louisville

April 13, 2012 – Louisville, Ky. – A person was killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle accident early on Wednesday, April 11.

Wave 3 reports that the accident happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Palatka Road, a short distance south of Iroquois Park. A Subaru was travelling at a high rate of speed on the roadway when its driver lost control. The vehicle then crashed into a utility pole near Southview Drive.

The driver of the Subaru, Adam Badger, 22, was killed in the accident. He was pronounced dead on the scene by officials.

A female passenger, whose identity has not been released, sustained minor injuries in the accident. She was taken to University of Louisville Hospital to be treated.

The passenger told police officers that she and the driver were at a bar on Preston Highway that night. Whether or not alcohol was a factor in the accident remains to be determined. Officials are waiting on autopsy and toxicology results. Louisville Metro Police are investigating.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2009 Kentucky Crash Statistics, there were 791 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Kentucky.
