Recently, the United Health Foundation released America’s Health Rankings Senior Report, and the news was not good for Kentucky seniors and those who love them. According to the report, Kentucky ranks 45th out of the 50 states when it comes to healthcare for seniors. It is important to understand why and to know what you can do to help protect your elderly loved one’s health.

Why Kentucky Ranked So Low on Senior Health

The report highlights some of the reasons why Kentucky ranked so low. According to the report:

  • Kentucky ranked last in preventable hospitalizations for seniors.
  • Kentucky ranked second to last in premature death rates for seniors.
  • Kentucky ranked second to last in cognition and education of seniors.

Kentucky also ranked last in terms of overall health outcomes for seniors. Other factors were also relevant to Kentucky’s ranking and can be seen in the full report.
