Only One Survivor When Two Couples’ Cars Collide in Kentucky

Three people were killed and one was seriously injured when two cars collided on Highway 15 near Tenmile Creek Road in Perry County, Kentucky, earlier this month. The accident allegedly occurred around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

According to accident reports, one Breathitt County couple, Billy Joe and Danny Caudill, were in one vehicle and another Breathitt County couple, Lilly and William Belcher, were in another vehicle. The reports indicate that Billy Joe was driving a Ford and William Belcher was driving a Chevy pickup truck on Highway 15. When the cars approached Tenmile Creek Road from opposite directions, it is alleged that Billy Joe crossed the center line of the road and that the two cars collided head-on. Everyone was reported to be wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Danny Caudill, Lilly Belcher, and William Belcher were all pronounced dead at the scene of this Perry County car accident. Billy Joe Caudill survived the accident and was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries.

In the days following the crash, investigators were looking into the cause of the accident and why one driver may have crossed the center line. Local residents have told the media that the stretch of road is dangerous and that other accidents have occurred there in the past.
