What is Happening to These Kentucky Nursing Homes

Recently, federal authorities terminated Medicare and Medicaid funding for Regis Woods after their inspectors discovered numerous violations that had caused harm to the residents. Fines of over $613,000 have been assessed against the home due to its violations.

On September 13, 2021, Regis Woods received notice that “CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) has determined that Regis Woods has failed to substantially comply with Medicare and Medicaid health and safety participation requirements.” The home is now scheduled to shut down on October 16, 2021. CMS had given the nursing home a one-star rating and states on their website that “this nursing home has been cited for abuse.”

According to public documents, the facility is managed by Genesis Healthcare and owned by Welltower Inc who purchased it from Seniorcare Facilities partnership in 2005.
