Carrollton Victim’s Body Found Day After Fatal Crash

February 10, 2011, Carroll County, KY – A fatal car accident in Carroll County led to a search for the victim that lasted more than 24 hours, according to a Courier-Journal.com report.

Authorities found the body of 50-year-old Mitchell D. Vories of Carrollton on Monday, Jan. 31, in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had overturned. The Jeep had gone down a hill along Ky. 389, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.

According to published reports, the Carroll County car crash had been reported on Sunday, Jan. 30, at about 2:30 a.m. A man had called 911 and said he had been involved in a crash, but he was not able to explain his location.

Authorities in Carroll County began searching for the caller based on GPS coordinates on his cell phone. However, he wasn’t found until a passerby noticed the Jeep on Jan. 31 around 5:30 p.m.

Traffic investigators are trying to determine whether anyone had been in the Jeep with Vories. Anyone who may have information about this tragic fatal car crash is asked to call police at 502-532-6363.
